Born In San Francisco. Lives in Petaluma, Ca. I started diving first from a sit on top in 1974. A Malotte Scout 2. Made of fiberglass and bulkheaded under the seating area for flotation. Flat and kind of slappy it was. I started fishing from it in 1978. Mostly on the ocean. Fishing for rockfish and lingcod. Very simple compared to the amount of gear and information available today. I am associated with www.norcalkayakanglers.com It's a great group of folks who love and share the kayak fishing lifestyle. I have fished tournaments including our own Angler of The Year. This tournament lasts all year. There are twenty fish on the specie list and you collect points for length measurement. It's a year long event and only the tenacious will claim first place. I missed first place one year by 5 points out of 1,800. An inch of rockfish would have won it. Today I fish as much as possible while juggling work, family responsibilities and mowing the darn lawn. Fishing is still as exciting from a kayak as it was way back then. I have caught a lot of different fish in California. My most memorable one was a White Sea Bass on a trip down in Monterey, Ca. The thing that is nice abut a big specie list is that it propels me to get out and fish for various kinds of fish that never used to fish for. My favorite place is still the ocean right here where I live in Sonoma County, Ca. Less than an hour away from some of the best rockfishing on the north coast is right here. I also run a kayak fishing tournament called The Albion Open. This is a three day event that brings kayak anglers from all over the western states. This is my fifth year running the tournament. The event brings together a lot of families and friends who gather to fish, cook food and basically have fun for three days. It is held in Albion, Ca. I also love to work the sports shows and REI paddle days. Clavey Paddlesports is our local paddle shop here in Petaluma. A great little store. I turned 60 years old last November and although I have slowed a bit I still love to get out and paddle for 6-10 miles hunting fish. I have all of the Trident series boats and they are my favorites. If you ever find yourself out in the San Francisco area and are looking to fish either freshwater or salt send me an email and let's see if we can get you On The Water!
